Children's Activities
Children ride in groups or have private lessons, but many wish to learn about handling and looking after ponies. Chorley Equestrian Centre regularly run 'Own a Pony' days in the holidays for children aged 8 and over. On these days they learn all about basic pony care and management, ride for 1 hour and take part in quizzes and competitions. For the under 8s a two hour course is held with 1 hour ride and 1 hour pony care.
Pony Club
The Centre is a member of the National 'Pony Club' as a Centre Member. This is a project whereby riding school children who do not have their own pony can join the Pony Club as a Centre Member, taking part in Pony Club activities at the Centre using riding school ponies. These include proficiency badges, national Pony Club tests and league competitions for all standards of children.
Exam Training
We regularly run BHS Stage 1 courses and train up to Stage 3 on a part or full time basis. We also train to NVQ level II.
Lessons
Lessons take part in the indoor and outdoor arenas where all ages and standards of rider are catered for, from small children to more mature riders and complete beginners to competition riders. Lessons run Tuesday to Sunday, Tuesday to Thursday being late nights open to 9.00pm. We have a range of instructors, some qualified up to BHS II and all are experienced, friendly and very good with children. Prices are very competitive with off peak reductions.
